How to download and use the Indian Government’s Coronavirus tracking app for Android and iOS – Aarogya Setu app


Aarogya Setu and 10 Other Apps Deployed by the Indian Government to Track the Coronavirus Pandemic. Last week, we reported about the Corona Kavach – a location-based COVID-19 tracking app. Now, the ministry of electronics and IT launched a mobile app called Aarogya Setu for both Android and iOS users. The word Aarogya Setu comes from the Sanskrit word which means A bridge of health.

In India, cases of coronavirus crossed 3100. Therefore, the government has come up with a new strategy called mobile surveillance. Aarogya Setu will help people in identifying the risk of getting affected by the CoronaVirus.

Developed through Public-Private Partnership under NIC guidance “Assesses themselves the risk for their catching the Corona Virus infection. It will calculate this based on their interaction with others, using cutting edge Bluetooth technology, algorithms and artificial intelligence,” an official statement said.

Aarogya Setu app is available in 11 languages, including English, Hindi, Bangla and Marathi.

Steps to use the Aarogya Setu app

  1. After downloading the Aarogya Setu app on your device (Android or iOS), select the language and click ‘next’.
  2. Click on the ‘Register Now’ option.
  3. Now the app will request for some permission, click on ‘I Agree’ button.
  4. Now enter your 10 digits mobile number.
  5. An OTP will be sent to your mobile number for verification.
  6. On the next screen, fill your personal details like your name, age, profession, countries travel outside in the last 30 days, tick mark the option ‘Ready to volunteer in the time of need’ and click ‘Submit’. Also, if you don’t want to fill these form you have the option to skip.
  7. Next, you will find the details of COVID-19 Help Centres and can do a self-assessment test clicking the options mentioned there. In the self-assessment test, you will be asked some details and after providing all the necessary details, the app will let you know about the infection risk.
  8. The Aarogya Setu app will show that you are at a ‘high risk’ or not. In case you are at a high-risk area then the app advises you to go for a test and call the toll-free number 1075 to schedule an appointment at the nearby testing centre.
  9. In case you are not safe then the app will suggest you to isolate and take precautions.
  10. The app will also be helpful for knowing ‘COVID-19 Do’s and Don’ts’ and ‘Safety measures against COVID-19’.
  11. Invite your friends and family to install the app.
