Xiaomi Mi Mix smartphone launched with zero bezels and edgeless design – Price, Specs, Release Date, and More
Xiaomi at its Beijing event launched the Mi Note 2 and a new Mi VR headset in China. While the Mi Note 2 is the successor to the Mi Note series and continues with the 3D Curved glass design, Xiaomi also launched a new concept smartphone called the Mi Mix, a limited edition handset made in collaboration with French designer Philippe Stark. The Xiaomi Mi Mix is up for pre-order now and will become available to buy from November 4.
The Xiaomi Mi Mix is priced at RMB 3499 (roughly Rs 34,513) for the 4GB RAM and 128GB storage, while there is also RMB 3999 Mi MIX (roughly Rs 39,500) with 18k gold inserts near the camera and fingerprint sensor along with 6GB RAM and 256GB storage.
Xiaomi Mi Mix will have a 6.4-inch display which is edge-to-edge, and Xiaomi says this will come with a custom 17:9 ratio aspect, a pixel density of 362ppi, and a 94 percent NTSC color gamut. The display is a custom one with a narrower border. It also bears a ceramic body. The company is also touting a front camera module that’s 50 percent smaller than conventional sensors and is placed at the bottom right corner of the phone.
The dual-SIM (Nano+Nano) Xiaomi Mi Mix seems to pack in details that are similar to the Mi Note 2. The smartphone is powered by a 2.35GHz quad-core Snapdragon 821 SoC, coupled with 4GB/ 6GB of LPDDR4 RAM. It has ‘Cantilever piezoelectric ceramic acoustic’ technology instead of regular speakers and an earpiece.
There is a 16-megapixel PDAF rear camera and 5-megapixel front-facing camera. Apart from the usual Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, there is also full NFC functionality with a high-precision GPS module. It measures 158.8×81.9×7.9, and weighs in at hefty 209 grams.
