Xiaomi Mi 5 is now expected to be launched in January 2016

We have been waiting a very long time for Xiaomi to launch the Xiaomi Mi 5 flagship, successor to the Xiaomi Mi 4 that was launched way back at the end of the summer in 2014.

Xiaomi unveiled the Redmi Note 3 smartphone and the Mi Pad 2 tablet at a press event on November 24, in China, there were reports that Mi 4’s successor would be unveiled along with these products on November 24.

However, Xiaomi’s CEO Lei Jun has now confirmed the existence of the Xiaomi Mi 5. He didn’t reveal the release date of the upcoming flagship smartphone, but said that the Xiaomi Mi 5 “is worth the waiting”, and that the phone is “very very good”.

In flagship terms that is an eternity and in that time every other company has launched a new high-end device, while many (Samsung, Apple, LG, Meizu, Sony) have launched two.

Pan Jiutang (a reputed Chinese analyst) says that the Xiaomi Mi 5 would be unveiled to the world in January 2016 and go on sale in February, specifically after the Spring festival in China.
