Lenovo Razer Edition – Lenovo and Razer partner to build gaming PCs

Lenovo, the world’s biggest PC maker, and Razer, a world leader in connected devices and software for gamers, announced on Friday that they will be collaborating on a new line of gaming computers in 2016 – Special Razer edition of the Lenovo Y series. It will be optimized for PC gaming and will make its global production debut at the International CES in January.

Lenovo has become the world’s biggest PC maker, but it hasn’t had much of a presence in the profitable market of gaming desktops. The two companies will both be represented on special Razer edition of the Lenovo Y series gaming PCs, giving Lenovo a chance to gain some additional credibility among the core gamer market and will make its global production debut at the International CES in January.

There’s no word yet on specs for the jointly developed systems- Lenovo Razer Edition, but Razer says in the official site for Razer edition -Lenovo and Razer partner that “[all] forthcoming Lenovo Razer Edition products will be co-branded and reflect the edgy Lenovo Y series look and feel with iconic Razer elements like customizable Chroma lighting effects.

“While we bring to the table our engineering expertise, design muscle and scale, Razer adds in the finesse and experience of serving the gaming community for the last decade,” said Victor Rios, vice president and general manager, Workstation BU, Gaming and Industry Solutions, Lenovo. “We believe our partnership is a strong first step that will lead to the delivery of winning PC gaming solutions and a brand new experience to our customers.”

The prototype of Razer Edition looks pretty similar to the chassis used in Lenovo’s Y900 gaming desktop, though decorate out with Razer-green lighting on the front. The weird rainbow shadow at the bottom presumably indicates the presence of Razer’s Chroma lighting and software (i.e. 16.8-million-color RGB lighting).
