WhatsApp UPI based payments feature available in India


WOW! WhatsApp UPI based payments, it’s different than other transaction money platform(Paytm, Google Tez, PhonePe, MobiKwik and other wallet companies). Also, another great step towards the digital payment.  WhatsApp introduced Payments feature, that means Whatsapp messaging app(beta tester) can start sending money to other users.

WhatsApp’s holds a 200 million monthly active users in India can benefit from the new digital payment service(WhatsApp UPI-based payments).

It started testing out its UPI-based payments feature in India. This feature will be available on WhatsApp version 2.18.21 for iOS, and version 2.18.41 for Android.

You can directly access the payment page from the chat window among the option such as Gallery, Video, Documents etc. When you wish to pay money to your friend or another just click on the Payments that will open a disclaimer window, where you have a  list of banks to choose from.

Select your bank from which you want to do the transaction to connect with UPI. Finally,  create an authentication pin if you haven’t yet used the UPI payments platform. Additionally, if you don’t have UPI account you will have to create through UPI app or your respective bank’s website/ app.

Like all other money transaction apps, this feature will also work when both the sender and receiver have the WhatsApp Payments feature for a successful transaction.

Since July 2017, WhatsApp trying to give WhatsApp UPI based payments feature. though, the feature was a found only on an Android beta version back in August last year.

After that UPI was announced by these companies Samsung, Zomato, Google and now, WhatsApp looking to include WhatsApp UPI based payments, on to their existing hardware and software products.
