WhatsApp reportedly rolls out Private Reply Feature With Latest Beta Update, here’s how to use it

The messaging giant WhatsApp has reportedly added a new feature for its Android platform called Private Reply features. The feature even showed up on the beta version of WhatsApp for Windows phone user.

Currently, the messaging app comes with a standard Reply option that is visible to everyone within a group, but with the new update, you can restrict the message visibility to a certain contact. The new functionality that allows users to privately send messages to a participant in a group without letting others in the same group know is only available for WhatsApp for Android beta testers as of now. For example, if you are in a group chat and want to privately reply to a particular message which only the sender of the message can see and not everyone in the group then this feature becomes really useful.

This feature has arrived for Android users with beta version 2.18.355. Notably, the update appears to come with a few bugs as well. The latest version of the app reportedly crashes while deleting media files from a group.

How to use WhatsApp’s Private Reply Feature

Step 1: Select or hold the message of the sender to which you would want to reply privately. Then tap on the three dots on the top right corner in the App. This will reveal the reply privately option.

Step 2: Selecting the reply privately will open the highlighted message in the form of a reply thread in the chat window of the sender.

WhatsApp recently also added the Swipe to Reply feature for Android users. iPhone users already have the feature. In related news, WhatsApp recently started rolling out Stickers feature to both Android and iOS users. The sticker packs are being bundled with 2.18.329 version of the Android app and 2.18.100 version of the iOS users.
