No Man’s Sky, the indescribably enormous space exploration game, is finally finished
No Man’s Sky is one of the most anticipated releases of 2016, the space exploration game has made it through a troubled development cycle and numerous delays.
After years in development and several delays, UK-based indie studio Hello Games has finally finished building its highly anticipated survival and exploration title, No Man’s Sky.
Creator Sean Murray tweeted out a photo of the Hello Games team popping the champagne over what could well be the world’s very first copy of the game.
“It’s happened. No Man’s Sky just went gold. I’m so incredibly proud of this tiny team. 4 years of emotions”
Originally scheduled for a June 2016 release, it was pushed back until mid-August. After a troubled 4-year development cycle, many feared the ambitious game might never see the light of day.
That means the company will most likely be able to stick with its latest release date of August 9 for North America on Play Station 4 and PC. It will become available in Europe the next day and in the UK on August 12.
The goal is to reach the center of the galaxy. On your journey, you’ll be able to decipher alien languages, upgrade your spaceship and equipment, learn about new species of plants and animals, and much more – all without rules governing how you should play.
The game is designed to be massive – like crazy massive. There will be a total of 18 quintillion planets for players to explore. It’s estimated that if you spent just one second visiting each of them, it’d take you 500 billion years to see them all.
If all goes according to plan, No Man’s Sky will be a milestone in game development alongside the likes of Minecraft and Grand Theft Auto
