Linus Torvalds Announces Linux Kernel 4.4 Release Candidate 3, Everything Is Normal
Linus Torvalds, a Finnish-American software engineer, announced the release and availability of the Linux 4.4 Release Candidate 3 kernel. This Linux Kernel version – Linux Kernel 4.4 Release Candidate 3 – comes with plenty of fixes and improvements.
According to Linus Torvalds, Linux Kernel 4.4 Release Candidate 3 is another normal achievement that updates drivers, fixes many bugs and many other improvements, but nothing out of the ordinary. Everything is normal for now and Linux kernel 4.4 might arrive before the end of 2015.
“I was out most of today, so this is a few hours later than usual, but there it is, the normal weekly rc. “Steady progress towards 4.4”. Said Linus Torvalds.
In the Linux Kernel 4.4 Release Candidate 3, the new features/changes look fairly normal -just under 60% driver updates, especially for Nouveau, about 25% arch updates (mostly ARM and ARM64, but some changes in x86, PowerPC (PPC), s390, MIPS,NIOS, m68k and ARC), and roughly 10% filesystem updates (mostly for Btrfs and NFS). The rest of 5% miscellaneous stuff(mainly header files).
Linus Torvalds also said, “The appended shortlog gives some overview of the details. I don’t think there’s anything particularly exciting, although that obviously depends on whether some particular issue ended up affecting you or not. Most of it is pretty tiny random fixups.”
