Here’s how to turn ON and OFF Twitter’s new timeline
Micro-blogging website Twitter is introducing algorithmic timelines for the first time, doing away with a nearly ten-year history of showing updates in chronological order. The new timeline features that allows users to never miss important tweets from people they follow by giving the option to see the best tweets first.
It’s not yet live for all users. The new feature, the best-tweets-first Twitter timeline is currently opt-in, meaning it’s off by default, and you have to turn it on yourself to try it out.
When the feature is enabled, the site will use an algorithm to pick out what it thinks are the best tweets and show them in the timeline. It will only show to users who open Twitter who have been “away for a while,” Twitter said.
“You follow hundreds of people on Twitter, maybe thousands, and when you open Twitter, it can feel like you’ve missed some of their most important Tweets. Today, we’re excited to share a new timeline feature that helps you catch up on the best Tweets from people you follow,” a Twitter blog said.
Turn ON and OFF Twitter’s new timeline On desktop
Log into your twitter account on twitter.com and go to Settings > Account > Content. The new feature will be under Timeline, to turn it off, tick the box next to “Show me the best Tweets first.”
Turn ON and OFF Twitter’s new timeline On iOS
In the Twitter iOS app, tap the gear icon and select Settings, then choose the account whose settings you’d like to adjust. Then go to Timeline, tap Timeline personalization, and tick the box next to Show me the best Tweets first.

In the Twitter android App, Tap the overflow icon, tap Settings, then Timeline and tick the box next to Show me the best Tweets first.
