Android P Developer Preview 1 Arrives, Biggest Visual Changes – Everything You Need To Know
Considering the recent reports Android P arrive in the second or third week of March. Android P developer preview 1 serves with many new features and security Fixes.

For now, Only Pixel phones and Android Emulator can be downloaded on Pixel, Pixel XL, Pixel 2, and Pixel 2 XL.
However, there isn’t a simple OTA programme that you can enter; developers will have to flash system images manually on their devices.
Moreover, there is not a good news for Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P that the two-year guarantee gets over for these two phones and for the Pixel C tablet.
Android P Developer Preview
On Wednesday, Google on its Android blog announced about the complete and elaborated details of Android P, a Further discussion will be shared at Google’s annual I/O conference in May 2018.
Google shared the whole release dates(Timeline and updates) of Developer Preview 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, Final release to AOSP and ecosystem. Developer Preview 1 in March (rolled out), release of Developer Preview 2 in early May (around Google I/O), Developer Preview 3 (with Final APIs) in early June, Developer Preview 4 in late June, Developer Preview 5 after July, and final release to AOSP and ecosystem planned for Q3 2018.
Additionally, Google has also described developer future goals of developer Preview release that they are expected to focus on making apps compatible with the OS.
In the first half developer work on selecting features and in the latter half developer targeting the new platform. Currently, Android Beta Program is not a part of the Android P Developer Preview 1.
Android P New Features
Every new release of Android comes with many new and different features from the previous release. Let’s take a look at some of the new features in Android P.
Multi-camera Support: Android P Developer Preview 1 adds a new multi-camera API. with the new multi-camera API on Android P, third-party app developers can make more use of the front and rear dual cameras. “The API also allows you call a logical camera stream that automatically switches between two or more cameras.”
Performance: Android runtime of Android P serves enrichment that uses execution profiles that will allow developers to optimise apps and reduce wastage of app code.
Notification: Android P introduces many improvements to notifications, worked with Google. The new changes focus on increased functionality and visibility of notifications, now show photos, conversations, smart replies and stickers.Users can directly view more information from the notification bar like photos and stickers etc.
Battery Percentage on ‘always-on display: With Android P, There is an always on display which appears at the bottom centre of the screen.
Security: Security design of Android P will check inactive apps from accessing mic and camera.
Other features like Support for Wi-Fi RTT (Round-Trip-Time) include indoor positioning, an improved Neural Network API, updates to Autofill, and the Open Mobile API for NFC payments and secure transactions.
Furthermore, Android P has a built-in support for more video and image codecs, including HDR VP9 Profile 2 and HEIF from YouTube and Play Movies on supported devices.
