On 13 January, Chinese smartphone maker, Xiaomi, released a teaser that the company has some ‘wonderful’ news to share with fans on Thursday. Now, Xiaomi has announced its plans to launch the feature-rich Redmi Note 3 in India. The Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 with a full metal body and a fingerprint scanner on the back was launched in China last year, which is priced at 899 Yuan or roughly Rs 9,300.Xiaomi Redmi Note 3

Xiaomi hasn’t announced the launch date for the Redmi Note 3. Xiaomi announced the contest on its official Twitter account and details of the Redmi Note 3 Explorer contest are also listed on the company’s official India website. The company in a tweet said, “RT the AWESOME news that a new #RedmiNote3 is coming. Be 1 of 100 Redmi Note 3 Explorers!”

Xiaomi India Chief Manu Jain has also tweeted about the opportunity of being the first 100 Note 3 Explorers.

According to the company, the 100 explorers will get to preview the smartphone first hand in India. You can register at the company’s official India website- MiIndia – by January 31.

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 features a 5.5-inch full-HD (1080×1920 pixels) Sunlight Display with a pixel density of 403 ppi. It runs Xiaomi’s MIUI 7 OS on top of Android Lollipop operating system and sports a 13-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel front camera.

Under the hood, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 650 clocked at 1.8GHz. Xiaomi since December 2014 has not been selling phones powered by MediaTek chipsets in India. Xiaomi launched two variants of the phone in China. The processor is coupled with 2GB/3GB of RAM. The Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 will come in 16GB and 32GB storage variants.

The dual-SIM 4G phone comes with a full metallic body. The handset also sports a fingerprint sensor at the back which the company claims can unlock the phone in just 0.3 seconds. Another notable feature is the 4000mAh battery with fast charging support that can charge up to 50 percent in 1 hour. Xiaomi says the phone is ultra-thin at 8.65 mm and weighs 164g.
