Samsung Galaxy S8 to feature Snapdragon 835, 6GB RAM and 256GB storage: Report

The Samsung Galaxy S8 will be company’s next flagship smartphone and is expected to feature a major redesign of the handset. With 2017 fast approaching, rumors around the Galaxy S8 are increasing – with the latest one suggesting that the smartphone will be coming with 6GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. The report comes from TechTastic, which was able to decipher a post from Chinese source on Weibo.

Samsung Galaxy S8 is rumored to be powered by the recently announced Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC (depending on region), or be powered by Samsung’s very own Exynos 9 Series SoC. Other rumored specs include faster wireless charging, an iris scanner, and a new virtual assistant to rival Siri and Google Assistant.

Rumors say the device will have a pressure-sensitive display, and it’s expected to come in two sizes, including a phablet version that will likely feature a dual lens rear camera… just like the iPhone 7 Plus. The smartphone will lack a physical home button.

An earlier post on Weibo has hinted at the Galaxy S8 featuring a curved 5.1-inch 2K Super AMOLED display, with the larger 5.5-inch version sporting a 4K display. The phone is also expected to comes equipped with the Viv AI assistant. Samsung acquired the assistant after it purchased Viv Labs, a Silicon Valley startup in October.

Enhanced camera quality is another offering point for the Samsung Galaxy S8 handset. The Galaxy S8’s better focal point will give 18 and 24-megapixel picture qualities for the front and back cameras, individually. The smartphone’s battery will have a 3,000 mAh control source.
