Samsung Galaxy A9 with Snapdragon 625 SoC, fingerprint scanner launched in China
Samsung on Thursday finally unveiled its latest smartphone in the Galaxy A series, the Samsung Galaxy A9, at an event held in China. Samsung is yet to reveal the pricing and availability details of its latest smartphone in the Galaxy A series, which is listed as the Galaxy A9 on the China site, despite there having been no earlier iteration of the Galaxy A9.
The Samsung Galaxy A9 comes in White, Gold and Pink colors variants. As of now there is no word on the pricing and availability of the smartphone.
The Samsung Galaxy A9 features a 6-inch Full HD (1080×1920 pixels) Super AMOLED display with 2.5D curved glass, a pixel density of 367 PPI. The smartphone houses 32GB of internal storage, which can be further expanded up to 128GB using a microSD card.
The smartphone is powered by 64-bit octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 652 processor (Quad 1.8GHz ARM Cortex A72 + Quad 1.2GHz A53 CPUs), formerly known as Qualcomm Snapdragon 620. Along with that, it has 3GB of RAM and Adreno 510 GPU. The smartphone runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop operating system.
On the camera front, the Samsung Galaxy A9 bears a 13-megapixel rear camera with LED flash, optical image stabilisation (OIS), and f/1.9 aperture. There is also an 8-megapixel front-facing camera.
The Samsung Galaxy A9 also features a 4,000mAh battery with Quick Charge support, and also boasts a fingerprint scanner integrated into the physical home button up front. On the connectivity front, the smartphone offers Dual SIM (nano+nano), 4G, WiFi a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.1, NFC, GPS/AGPS/GLONASS, ANT+ and Micro USB.
