OnePlus 3 Selfie Sample Released – Specifications and Launch Date

Now it is OnePlus’ turn that Xiaomi, Samsung, LG, and HTC have already launched their 2016 flagship smartphones – OnePlus 3.

CEO Pete Lau has posted a selfie taken from the front camera of the OnePlus 3 on Chinese social networking site Weibo. The resolution of the picture is at 2448×3264 pixels, which sums up to 8-megapixel.

In the meanwhile, noted tipster Evan Blass also took to Twitter to share a screenshot from the OnePlus 3 running on OxygenOS v3.1.0 based on an Android N preview build. The screenshot revealed that the smartphone may come with a 5.5-inch full-HD (1080×1920 pixels) display, Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 820 SoC, and a 16-megapixel rear camera. Blass also tips that OnePlus will reintroduce NFC technology – a dropped feature in OnePlus 2.

Evan Blass, the serial leaker has shared a brief overview of the OnePlus 3‘s specifications. For the spec-hungry among you, they might make for disappointing reading given that they’re much the same as last year.

Blass has previously mentioned that the display will be of the AMOLED variety, and that the handset will ship with a 3,000 mAh battery. Other past leaks and rumors talked about the phone sporting a fingerprint scanner, a USB Type-C port, and 4 or 6GB of RAM.

OnePlus is already testing Android N preview builds on the OnePlus 3, but it’s likely that the device will actually ship running Android Marshmallow.

What’s more, it appears OnePlus may be making some major changes to the outward appearance this year, replacing the Sandstone Black plastic cover for an all-metal casing which looks somewhat similar to flagship HTC smartphones.

OnePlus will announce the new phone via a VR live stream sometime in the very near future and even launched a bespoke VR headset to coincide with the launch. For Indian users, OnePlus will sell the Loop VR headset from June 3 to June 7 on Amazon India, registration for which is now open.

OnePlus is looking to give the OnePlus 3 a makeover of sorts with a more sleek, and all-metal design. It is expected to pack a 3000mAh or 3500mAh battery, and come in two variants – 4GB RAM/ 32GB storage and 6GB RAM/ 64GB storage bundles.
