LG V10 Successor Will Be Powered By LG Nuclun 2, Not The LG G5

LG has essentially released two flagship devices this year, the LG G4 and the LG V10. According to a new rumor out of China, LG will use the Nuclun 2 in the LG V10 successor, not the LG G5. The LG V10 successor will be out no sooner than the second half of 2016.

Latest sources, “i Ice universe” on Weibo, state that the LG Nuclun 2 will be faster than the Huawei Silicon’s new Kirin 950 SoC.

LG Nuclun 2 chipset will be based on ARM Cortex-A72 and Cortex-A53 CPU cores and it will be manufactured by TSMC using the 16nm process, which is one of the reasons it will be inferior to Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 820 upcoming chipset.

The latest source claims that the south Korean company doesn’t think this chip is going to be quite powerful enough for its flagship LG G5 that will appear in the first half of next year.

It’s also worth mentioning that the Nuclun 2 chipset was initially slated for an early 2016 release, but in order for the SoC to pack LTE-A modem, LG decided to delay it until the second half of the year.

If LG actually managed to make a solid SoC, then LG will be another big player in the mobile processor game, which should make things even more interesting. LG will join the Samsung and Huawei, and become a smartphone manufacturer which also manufactures their own mobile processors.
