Freddom 251 Launch – Domestic handset maker Ringing Bells, established in 2015, will launch what it is calling World’s most affordable smartphone. The Freedom 251 from Noida-based company costs Rs. 251, and will be available to buy on the company’s website from 6 am on February 18 and close at 8 pm on February 21.

According to Domestic handset maker company Ringing Bells, its vision is to “Empower citizens, even in the remotest rural and semi-urban centres of India, with the latest in digital technology at incredible affordable prices and cascade knowledge, news and current issues so that all experience the confidence of inclusive growth and equal opportunity – In short, innovative solutions for a brighter tomorrow.”

Here’s what we already know about the Freedom 251 smartphone.

  • The Freedom 251 runs the Android Lollipop 5.1 Operating System and the smartphone is powered by the 1.3 GHz quad-core processor.
  • The smartphone will have a 4-inch (10.2 cms) qHD IPS display that is quite common for sub-Rs 5,000 smartphones.
  • The smartphone houses a 3.2-megapixel Autofocus rear camera and 0.3-megapixel front camera. The Freedom 251 with its inbuilt touchless technology is good for selfie lovers.
  • The smartphone comes preinstalled with apps such as Swachh Bharat, Women Safety, Fisherman, Farmer, Medical, Google Play, WhatsApp, Facebook, Twitter among others.
  • The Freedom 251 comes with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal memory. It also supports external memory cards of up to 32GB. The phone has the 1,450 mAh battery.
  • The smartphone supports 3G for lightning-fast web browsing.
  • Noida-based company Ringing Bells claims to have a more than 650 service centres across the India.
  • The Noida-based company Ringing Bells offers 12-month warranty for the smartphone, with 6 months on the battery and charger. The earphone will be covered for 3 months from the date of purchase.
  • The Freedom 251 will be officially unveiled in New Delhi on Wednesday evening at an event that will be presided over by Dr. Murli Manohar Joshi, MP, with the Union Defence Minister Sri Manohar Parrikar as the Chief Guest.
