Xiaomi Mi 5 Screenshot confirms new Specs and Color Variants for the Upcoming Flagship

After Xiaomi’s Global VP, Hugo Barra confirmed the Mi 5 will be announced on February 24 this year in China, we now have a screenshot that confirms new specs and color variants of the flagship smartphone – the Xiaomi Mi 5. Hugo Barra also announced that the Chinese company will showcase its Mi 5 on the same day next month at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2016 event in Barcelona. This is the first time in the company’s history that Xiaomi will be introducing a new smartphone on a global stage.

“We’re holding an invitation-only media preview on February 24, the very same day of our launch event in Beijing, and I’ll be on stage,” said Barra in a Facebook post. He also confirmed that the preview of the Xiaomi Mi 5 in Barcelona will be an invitation-only media preview.

In the meantime, an alleged retail box of the upcoming flagship smartphone- Xiaomi Mi 5 – has surfaced online. The boxes themselves show a device almost identical to the previous renders. According to leaked images, the Xiaomi Mi 5 will be available in 4 colors – gold, pink, white and black.

Xiaomi Mi 5 is expected to come in two variants – one with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage and the other will come with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. The 4GB RAM Xiaomi Mi 5 is expected to feature a 5.2 inch Quad HD display (2560x1440p) and the 3GB RAM Mi 5 is expected to feature a full HD screen.

Both the versions of the smartphone will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 quad-core SoC (System-on-Chip), 16-megapixel rear camera with dual-tone LED flash and a 13-megapixel snapper on the front. Xiaomi Mi 5 will be powered by large 3,600 mAh battery. On the software front, the Mi 5 runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow-based MIUI 7.
