WhatsApp Restricted Group Feature: To Restrict Other Members From Group Info Edits

In order to Prevent Unwanted Group Info Edit, WhatsApp has introduced a new Group Settings feature. This WhatsApp Restricted Group Feature contains the ability to select which group participants will be able to edit group info – all participants, or group admins.

This Feature gives the control to the administrator, restrict other members from sending text messages, photographs, videos, GIFs, documents or voice messages in case the admin thinks so.

So, Once restricted, other members will simply have to read their messages and will not be able to respond. Further, Group admins have more control over the groups they manage.

Currently, This feature is rolling out to Android beta 2.18.132 users only and soon rolling out to all platforms. For Users like Android, iPhone, and Windows Phone platforms.

Reports said, With over 1.5 billion monthly active users, WhatsApp is available in more than 50 different languages around the world and in 10 Indian languages.

Now comes to setting, It is very simple to find the settings to apply the feature, All users need to go to Group info > Group settings > Edit group info.

From here, users will be able to maintain who can change the group’s subject, icon, and description – with two choices 1) All participants or 2) Only admins.

All participants can normally edit the group description, icon and subject, but finally the administrator can restrict this feature today, preventing no-administrators to modify the group description,” the website said.

According to the reports, It is noticed that both the iPhone and Windows Phone platforms currently have no option to restrict any user from editing the group description, icon, or subject.

Moreover, WABetaInfo claims the feature is currently rolling out to iPhone and Windows Phone users as well, though none of the iPhone units we have had yet received the functionality.
