The Government of India has blocked the popular file-sharing site WeTransfer, due to the National security. Amid Covid-19 various internet service providers (ISPs) block file-sharing website WeTransfer, when everyone is working from home and using the service to send across huge files to their friends and colleagues. The order, dated May 18, from India’s Department of Telecommunications (DoT).

In India, millions of users are using the service to a send files up to 2GB straight to the recipient’s email with no delay. Also, with the premium version, users can transfer up to 20GB of files or folders.

WeTransfer stated in a post, saying: “…WeTransfer seems to be blocked and unavailable in India. We are working hard to understand the reasoning behind this block, as well as how to get it reverted as soon as possible.”

Now, due to the ban in India, people are not able to send the huge file to make the work running and without any delay, here are some alternatives that you can try for the time being.

1. Smash

Smash is similar to Wetransfer and can assist in sharing the files without making an account on the platform. All you need to upload the file > enter email address > enter the email address of the recipient > send. As, I said similar functionality, with this website you can also generate a link of the shared file and send it across.

2. Dropbox

Dropbox is a popular platform that brings your files and cloud content together. It is also referred as an online backup service that helps in sharing files and folders. Over 450,000 business teams using the service for transferring file.

Dropbox is very easy to use, with this platform you can access the could-storage via desktop software, or a mobile app. It has 2GB free storage space.

3. Google Drive

Very common and most frequently used the platform to send heavy files, Google Drive. Anyone can access the platform by using his/her Google account. It has 15GB of free storage.

In Google Drive you can upload files, audio, videos, and more and share it by providing the email address of the recipient or with the link.

4. Hightail

Hightail is also a cloud service by which users can send and receive files. But, wit this website you can’t send too large files.
With the free Lite account, you can share up to 100MB in size with a total storage limit of 2GB. Another important point to note is this tool will ask you to sign up unlike WeTransfer and Smash.

5. Firefox Send

Firefox Send, with this platform you can transfer files up to 1GB without signing in and considered as a convenient alternative to WeTransfer. The free file transfer limit is 2.5GB.

6. Send Anywhere

Send Anywhere is another free service for transferring files with no size limit. It lets users upload any content – images, videos, audio, or documents and can also generate a link.

7. SurgeSend

With SurgeSend you can transfer upto 5GB size files. It has a free version that has a upload limit of 3GB per file. The Pro version, costs about $15 per month and also offers password protection.
