Samsung’s Tizen-based Z3 smartphone

Samsung has tried to reduce its dependence on the Android operating system by rolling its own OS called Tizen. The first Samsung Tizen OS device was the Samsung Z1, which sold well. The latest Tizen-powered smartphone has launched in India and it is called the Samsung Z3

The Samsung’s Tizen-based Z3 is a low cost smartphone aimed at buyers on a budget and it packs nice hardware upgrades compared to the Z1. The Z1 and the Z3 look very similar from the front view, but the back is noticeably different with curved edges.

The samsung’s Tizen-based Z3 features a 5-inch HD Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 1280×720 pixels. and is powered by a 1.3GHz quad-core processor along with a 1GB of RAM under the hood. It includes an internal storage of 8GB and can be further expanded up to 128GB.

The Samsung Z3 sports an 8MP rear shooter with F2.2 aperture and a 5MP camera at the front capable of shooting wider 120 degree selfies. The front selfie camera also comes with features like auto selfie and beauty enhancement mode. Samsung Z3 runs Tizen OS v2.4 which brings several UI enhancements and contextual services.

The Samsung’s Tizen-based Z3 also supports USB 2.0, Bluetooth 4.0, WiFi, GPS. and also It has a 2,600 mAh battery and features Samsung’s Ultra Power Saving Mode, which disables all but the most basic functions to increase battery life when you really need it.

Samsung has also brought Mix Radio to its Tizen platform which offers lifetime subscription to the service offering curated mixes from a catalogue of over 30 million songs. The Mix Radio also supports regional languages like Telugu, Tamil, Punjabi, Bangla, Odiya and Marathi.

The samsung’s Tizen-based Z3 is being introduced as a mid-range device. The Smartphone will be available exclusively at Snapdeal, on online retailer, for Rs 8,490 ($130), and will be on sale next week 21 October.
