Ringing Bells Freedom 251 – India’s cheapest Android smartphone launched at Rs 251

Domestic handset maker Ringing Bells, established in 2015, has launched the India’s most affordable smartphone – The Freedom 251 – for a price of Rs 251 which is less than $ 4.

Bookings for the India’s cheapest Android smartphone – Freedom 251 – will start on the company’s website from Thursday 18 February from 6.00 am in the morning and will close on 21 February at 8.00 pm.

The Ringing Bells Freedom 251 also appears to be a rebranded version of another phone marketed in India by New Delhi-based Adcom. The Adcom Ikon 4 shares the same looks and specifications as the Ringing Bells Freedom 251, including the appearance of the Apple-like icons.

The Freedom 251 sports a 4-inch (10.2 cms) qHD IPS display. The Smartphone is powered by a quad-core processor clocked at 1.3GHz, coupled with 1GB of RAM. There is no mention of the brand of the processor. The smartphone runs Android 5.1 Lollipop operating system but the icons on the home screen make it look like the phone runs iOS.

The Ringing Bells Freedom 251 packs 8GB of internal storage that can be expanded up to 32GB via a microSD card. The smartphone houses a 3.2-megapixel Autofocus rear camera and 0.3-megapixel front camera. It has a 1450mAh removable battery. The Ringing Bells Freedom 251 is a single SIM (GSM) smartphone. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, FM. Sensors on the phone include Proximity sensor.

The Ringing Bells Freedom 251 will come with a standard warranty of 1 year. According to the company’s website, “this warranty of the product extends for a period of 12 months for the host unit, 6 months for battery and charger, and 3 months for earphone commencing from the date of purchase.”
