Redmi 8 Launched in India, prices start at Rs. 7,999

Finally, Xiaomi launched its new Redmi 8 with a Snapdragon 439 chipset, AI dual cameras and a Type-C port in India. The smartphone will go on its first sale on October 12  at 00:01am via Mi.com, Flipkart, Mi Home stores and comes in three colors – Ruby Red, Sapphire Blue and Onyx Black.

According to the event, the company reveals that the Redmi 8 comes with a dual camera setup on the back, assisted by artificial intelligence and the camera includes 12-megapixel main camera with 1.4 micro pixel size, f/1.8 aperture, and Sony IMX363 image sensor. The secondary shooter is a 2-megapixel depth sensor to help with the portraits. For selfies and video calling the company offers an 8-megapixel AI selfie camera.

Redmi 8 Specification

The successor of Redmi 7 features a 6.2-inch dot notch HD+ display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 439 processor, and comes with P2i splash resistance and Gorilla Glass protection from scratches.

In terms of optics, the phone has dual-camera setup at the back that includes 12 MP primary sensor and a 2 MP sensor. On the front, there is an 8 MP selfie shooter. Also, It comes with a face unlock feature and a fingerprint sensor at the back.

Considering the storage, the phone comes in 3GB + 32GB and 4GB + 64GB internal storage and can be expanded up to 512 GB via microSD card. The smartphone comes with 5,000 mAh battery that supports 18 W fast charging.

Redmi 8 Price

The Redmi 8 will be offered two variants – 3GB + 32GB and 4GB + 64GB. The 3GB RAM variant will be offered at Rs. 7,999, whereas the 4GB RAM variant will Rs. 8,999.

The company also announced that the first 5 million units of the 4GB RAM variant will be available at a discounted price of Rs 7,999.
