Qualcomm Snapdragon 830
It is almost the end of the year and we are still waiting for latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor to be the flagship SoC in upcoming flagship smartphones for 2016, but rumours have already started off the next generation chip from the Qualcomm – the Qualcomm Snapdragon 830.
According to leaks from various sources, including analyst Pan Jiutang, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 830 SoC will support up to 8 GB of RAM configuration and Snapdragon 830 SoC will be able to compete with desktop-class processors.
If Qualcomm is developing a certain chip with support for 8GB of RAM, next generation of smartphone devices will be able to provide massive multitasking abilities and even closer to miniature portable computers.
Chinese analyst Pan Jiutang also claims that the Qualcomm Snapdragon 830 will have the model number of “MSM8998”. Pan Jiutang also stated that the Snapdragon 820 model will have the MSM8998 label and the Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 model will have the MSM8994 label.
The Snapdragon 820 is manufactured by the 14nm process and it comes with custom Kryo cores. In comparison, earlier rumors suggested that the Qualcomm Snapdragon 830 is likely to be created using the 10nm production process of Samsung. Samsung has already announced that they will be starting their 10nm manufacturing lines by end-2016.
Technically, the 10 nm manufacturing process should boost the performance of the device, in addition to reducing the overall power usage. The Qualcomm Snapdragon 830 is also said to deliver a dual-channel configuration. The Qualcomm Snapdragon 820, which is yet to make an official appearance in a smartphone, already offers dual-channel memory support for 1866MHz LPDDR4 RAM.
