Playdate is a pocket-sized handheld device introduced by Panic

Remembering the old memories of video games, introducing PlayDate, a new handheld gaming system with a black and white screen and a crank will be soon coming in the next year. This gaming console is made by the people Published Firewatch and the upcoming Untitled Goose Game, Panic.

Panic’s Playdate will bring brand new video games, one each week(12 surprise games delivered over 12 weeks). Interesting isn’t it?Thus, it isn’t just the hardware.

Playdate is a tiny, yellow Game Boy-like device with a 2.7-inch black-and-white screen, 400×240 low-power LCD, has a glossy black, a hand crank for controlling, with no backlight, along with a pad consist of A and B buttons.

Panic explained, “it has Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, USB-C, and a headphone jack. But it also has a crank. Yes, a crank: a cute, rotating analog controller that flips out from the side. It’s literally revolutionary.”

Since 20 years or more Panic was continuously making quality apps for Mac and iOS, now this time they directly jump into hardware and here we see adorable gaming console. The system will cost USD $149 (around £118 / AU$217), Including all twelve games in Season One — there’s no extra charge.

Moreover, when a new game is downloaded a light on the Playdate will flash, informing users of something new to play. The first game to be announced for Playdate is Crankin’s Time Travel Adventure, developed by Keita Takahashi, creator of Katamari Damacy.
