Google announces its Pixel and Pixel XL flagship smartphones – October 13 India launch, price, specifications and more
The search engine giant has officially announced Pixel and Pixel XL smartphones at a special event in San Francisco, California. Google’s Rick Osterloh says Google Pixel represents the best of hardware and software designed by Google.
Google says Pixel and Pixel XL smartphone are built on five pillars – Google Assistant, Photography, Storage, Communications and Virtual reality. Google Pixel and Pixel XL smartphone come with Pixel launcher and use rounded icons for the cleaner look.
The handsets, which are being assembled by HTC feature unibody cases made of aluminum, with decorative glass panels on the rear. These are the first phones with Google Assistant built in and ready for the company’s Daydream VR platform. There is no search bar at the top and tapping the home button launches Google Assistant.
The Google Pixel and Pixel XL feature 5-inch and 5.5-inch displays with Full HD (441ppi) and Quad HD (534ppi) resolution that’s protected by Gorilla Glass 4. The smartphones are powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor coupled with 4GB RAM.
The Google Pixel and Pixel XL both devices have a different battery capacity, 2,770mAh and 3,450mAh.
Both the Google Pixel smartphones feature an all new 12.3-megapixel rear camera with large 1.55-micron pixels and f/2.0 aperture. Google’s Pixel and Pixel XL has scored 89 on DxoMark’s camera rating.
The Google Pixel and Pixel XL have the same storage options – 32GB (for those that use Google Photos and Play Music) and 128GB (for those that prefer their data offline). By the way, both Pixel phones get unlimited Google Photos storage for photos at full resolution.
Google Pixel and Pixel XL smartphones will start at $649 and will be available from Google and Verizon in the US. Google Pixel and Pixel XL will be available in Black, Silver and limited edition Blue colour variant. The smartphone will launch in India on October 13.
