Along with the two phones, Google also announced its take on the convertible category with the launch of the Pixel C, an Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS based convertible tablet. It looks like Google’s answer to the iPad Pro as well as the Microsoft Surface Pro.

The business-friendly Android tablet will likely go up against Apple’s iPad Pro, which also connects to a keyboard. the keyboard and tablet communicate via Bluetooth rather than connectors.

The metal-clad tablet, which runs on Google’s Android operating software, uses an Nvidia Tegra X1 eight-core processor with 3 gigabytes of memory, Andrew Bowers, a Google product management director, said on stage. Bowers also noted that the magnetically connected, Bluetooth-enabled keyboard doubles as a stand, so users don’t have to prop up the tablet on a book or pillow.

“We think the Pixel C’s tablet and keyboard experience really unlocks new ways to both play and be productive on one device,” Bowers said.

Price- The Pixel C will be available at $499 for the 32GB storage model and an extra $100 to bump up to 64GB. The keyboard isn’t included in the price, despite being an integral part of the experience — it’ll set you back another $149.

The other clever thing is how it charges: inductively, off the tablet itself. A charge should be good to last two months, so as long as you close the thing up with the tablet from time to time you should never have to think about it.
