Asus ZenFone Zoom With 4GB RAM finally launching in mid-December

Almost one year after Asus first announced the Asus ZenFone Zoom as the first thinnest phone ever with 3x optical zoom. The Asus ZenFone Zoom is going on sale in a couple of weeks, but only in Taiwan.

The company has announced that the Asus ZenFone Zoom will be available in two versions based on chipsets: one with 64 GB of internal storage and a 2.3GHz quad-core Intel Atom Z3580 processor, and one with 128 GB of internal storage and a 2.5GHz quad-core Intel Atom Z3590 processor.

The 64 GB Asus ZenFone Zoom costs about 13,990 TWD(approximately Rs. 28,500), while the 128 GB one can be purchased for 15,990 TWD(approximately Rs. 32,500). Both seem to have faux leather rear covers.

The company touts that the Asus ZenFone Zoom is the “world’s thinnest 3X optical smartphone offering up to 12X zoom-in effect”, with a thickness of just 11.95mm.

Asus ZenFone Zoom features a 5.5-inch full-HD (1080×1920 pixels) display and sports Corning Gorilla Glass 4.

The Asus ZenFone Zoom sports a 13 MP rear camera with f/2.7 to f/4.8-aperture, 10-element lenses with 3X optical zoom. This camera takes a noticeable amount of space on the back of the phone, while also featuring laser autofocus, four-piece camera lens produced by Hoya, optical image stabilization(OIS), and a dual LED flash. On the front, the device has a 5 MP camera.

The Asus ZenFone Zoom comes with Asus ZenUI based on Android 5.0 Lollipop, LTE connectivity and A 3000mAh battery with fast-charging – Asus says 60-percent capacity is reached in just under 40 minutes – makes the best use of the internal space. As for the RAM, it is tied at 4GB for both the offerings.

Asus ZenFone Zoom measures 158.9×78.8×11.95mm and weighs 185 grams. Asus didn’t say when (or if) it’s going to release the ZenFone Zoom in other markets.
