Apple Will Contribute To US Teen’s Education Who First Found A Group FaceTime Bug That Allowed Users To Eavesdrop

On Thursday, Apple released iOS 12.1.4 to fix a major security flaw ie Group FaceTime Bug in FaceTime that allowed people to eavesdrop on Apple users. The Group FaceTime Bug was first discovered by a 14-year-old teenager Grant Thompson and his mother. Initially, the family faces the problem to contact the company but soon went viral on social media.

The company announced to reward the family with compensation for finding the bug as well as helping towards the teenager’s future education costs.

Considering the issue, this software bug let users hear audio from people who had not yet answered a video call.

According to the reports, if the recipient tries to low the volume and presses the down button or the power button in order to low volume or dismiss the call, their camera turns on as well. Disgusting isn’t it? Meanwhile, the recipient’s continue to see the incoming call on screen.

Apple said, “In addition to addressing the bug that was reported, our team conducted a thorough security audit of the FaceTime service and made additional updates to both the FaceTime app and server to improve security.”
