Xiaomi Mi 5 with Snapdragon 820 rumoured to launch on December 3
Snapdragon 820 powered Xiaomi Mi 5 could be launched on December 3, if a new leak is to be believed.
Previously, rumours suggested the smartphone might be announced on October 19 Xiaomi press event , but instead the Xiaomi announced the Xiaomi Ninebot Mini hoverboard and Mi TV 3. This time rumours suggest Xiaomi is planning an event for December 3, where the Mi 5 smartphone could be unveiled and that will pack Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 820 SoC. and leak has suggested that Xiaomi will launch its Mi Band.
Chinese tipster Leaksfly in a Weibo post has said that the Qualcomm may launch its Snapdragon 820 chipset on November 20.
Based on leaks so far, Xiaomi Mi5 is said to be the first to run on the octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor, which has yet to be released.
Other rumored specifications for the Xiaomi Mi 5 include a 5.3-inch QHD (1440×2560) pixels resolution display with pixel density of 554 pixels per inch (ppi), 4GB of RAM, Adreno 530 GPU,
Xiaomi Mi 5 will feature a 16-megapixel Optical Image Stabilization(OIS) rear camera with dual-LED flash and a 6-megapixel front camera, and either 16GB or 64GB of internal storage, but without a microSD card slot.
Xiaomi most probably may use the octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 v2.1 SoC. A different report also suggests that Xiaomi may opt for MediaTek’s Helio X20 chip. All of this will be powered by a 3,030mAH battery.
Another noteworthy feature of the Xiaomi Mi 5 is that the phone is expected to house Qualcomm’s Sense ID based bio-metric technology, USB Type C and the latest version of MIUI software.
Xiaomi is expected to launch Xiaomi Mi 5 at approximately CNY 1,900 (Rs 20,000 in India).
Moving on, a separate source has suggested that Xiaomi may launch a successor to its Mi Band next week and will sport a heart rate sensor. The Chinese company is said to be price it competitively and launch it at around CNY 99 (approximately Rs. 1,050 or USD$16).
