Xiaomi set to launch Mi Drone on Wednesday – Check out teaser video
Xiaomi is all set to launch its first Mi Drone on May 25 in Beijing China. While the Chinese company has dropped teasers before, a promotional 20-second video appears to have leaked, giving us little glimpses of the upcoming drone.
Xiaomi’s Global VP Hugo Barra posted about the launch event on his Facebook and Twitter accounts with the description, “Something incredibly awesome from Xiaomi is flying your way on May 25!”
The Chinese company, Xiaomi had also posted about the drone on its official Mi forum. The posts read, “Something wonderful and cool is flying to us very soon. A Bamboo-copter? In China, it’s the earliest flying toys consisted of feathers at the end of a stick, which was rapidly spun between the hands and released into flight. Shall we discover the world with Mi_________________________ ?”
The videos (via Chinese website Anzhou) reveals an all-white quadcopter drone, complete with four rotors and a revolving camera attached to a gimbal. There are hints of orange seen on the top of the blades, bringing in the colour of the Mi brand. The teaser ends with the event details revealed by the company.
Xiaomi also posted a teaser video about its upcoming drone on the Chinese streaming site Youku, which was spotted by Android Central. The video shows that the drone will be like a Quadcopter with four balanced legs and a camera mounted in the middle. However, the video shows the device to be white in colour instead of the black colour shown in the pictures posted in the forums.
As reported earlier, the drone is expected to shoot 4K videos at 30fps. With this launch, Xiaomi marks its entry into the UAV market. The Chinese electronics company has already forayed into many segments like air purifiers, Wi-Fi routers, pressure cookers, and even set-top boxes.
