Update to WhatsApp for BlackBerry 10 OS brings web link previews
The Facebook-owned messaging service, WhatsApp, has rolled out an update for its BlackBerry 10 OS app with several improvements and fixes. The update tp WhatsApp for BlackBerry 10 OS pushes the app version to 2.12.340.2. As per the change log, the WhatsApp update adds support for more Web client features such as Message info, recent emoji sync, as well as includes better organization of phone numbers on the Contact Info screen. It also brings the support for Web link previews on outgoing messages.
Message history backup process should now cause fewer problems with normal app functionality while issues encountered when connecting via proxy servers have also been fixed. The update is said to be live now, and can be downloaded from BlackBerry World app store.
Earlier this month the Facebook-owned messaging company hit 1 billion monthly active user mark, levelling itself with Google’s free email service, Gmail. As per the latest stats, WhatsApp witnesses 42 billion messages per day, 1.6 billion photos per day, 250 million videos per day, and has 1 billion groups.
The Facebook-owned messaging service, WhatsApp, last week pushed a server-side update to its app on Android OS and iOS that increase the number of users included in a group chat. Until now, a WhatsApp group chat could include up to 100 users. However, the update now pushes the limit to 256 users.
