Xiaomi Mi5 could be unveiled on January 21st with physical home button
The Xiaomi Mi5 has been the centre of debate for tipsters and the media worldwide, and if new reports are to be believed, Xiaomi Mi5 could finally be unveiled on January 21, 2016.
The leaked renders reveal the front of the Xiaomi Mi 5 sporting a physical home button. Xiaomi always includes three capacitive buttons below the display, never a physical home button. If the renders are to be believed then the Xiaomi Mi5 will be the first device from the company to come with a physical home button.
According to well-known Chinese analyst Pan Jiutang, Xiaomi has found that Qualcomm’s fingerprint scanner is not reliable or stable yet. Pan Jiutang says that the Xiaomi Mi5 would instead come with a traditional fingerprint sensor.
The physical home button of the Xiaomi Mi 5 will come integrated with a traditional Fingerprint Sensor – similar to the ones found in the Meizu MX5 and the OnePlus 2. The renders also correspond to the previously leaked image which showed a nearly bezel-less design of the smartphone.
According to the new reports, the company will unveil the Xiaomi Mi 5 on January 21, 2016, and it will go on sale sometime in February. A Plus variant (Xiaomi Mi5 Plus) is also expected to be announced at the same time.
The Xiaomi Mi5 is expected to feature a 5.2-inch QHD display, powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 SoC with 3GB/4GB of RAM and 32GB/64GB internal storage. The screen will offer a version of Force Touch.
The Xiaomi Mi5 is expected to run on Android 6.0 Marshmallow based MIUI 7. The device is also expected to feature a combination of 21-megapixel rear and 8-megapixel front facing cameras.
According to the Weibo(Chinese social network) posting, there will be two versions of the phone. 3GB RAM model will be priced at the equivalent of $311(Approx Rs.21,000) while the 4GB RAM model will cost $389(Approx Rs.26,000).
