Apple admits Yes, we’re slowing down older iPhones because of ageing batteries

On Wednesday, Apple admits” Yes, we’re slowing down older iPhones” by use of software updates to limit the performance of older iPhones and prevent them from shutting down unexpectedly. Previously customers claim i.e Apple was purposely slowing down older iPhones in an effort to force customers to upgrade to a new device.

Due to this issue of slow down performance especially in iPhone 6, iPhone 6S, iPhone SE and iPhone 7, last year iPhone 6s users reported that their device was suffering from random shutdowns. Apple understands the problem of users and helps affected users by offering free battery replacements.

Apple said that they do this intentionally for customers in order to stabilize battery performance, who expect their pricey iPhones to last more than a couple of years. The reason for doing this is to keep the performance of device running smoothly by ageing batteries.

Lithium-ion batteries become less capable of supplying peak current demands when in cold conditions, have a low battery charge or as they age over time, which can result in the device unexpectedly shutting down to protect its electronic components“.

It is seen, that the people suggesting replace iPhone batteries for users, instead of reducing performance. For replacement of the battery, Apple charges  $79. According to the user’s opinion and being an iPhone user, Approach of slow down phones for a reason of its performance suddenly is wrong. Also, cost of replacing battery should be free of cost. Why should a customer pay more for the already purchased product? All the experiments and added features are up to company only, until and unless its positive result came out.

If the issue of slow down old iPhones would not recover according to the customer, or the feature is planned to be rolled out to newer devices in the future, won’t buy a new iPhone.
