LG G5 With Snapdragon 820, Modular Add-Ons, Dual Rear Cameras, 5.3-inch Always-On display Launched


The South Korean tech giant LG announced its latest android smartphone – LG G5 – at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) on Sunday in Barcelona. The LG G5 sports full metal body and packs in top-of-the-line specifications and a number of other interesting features such as the expandable module which can be utilised to enhance the camera and battery of the phone.

As for the specifications, the LG G5 sports a 5.3-inch QHD display (1440×2560 pixels) featuring always-on display technology. The always-on display technology will allow users to notifications, time, battery status and other information.

The LG G5 is powered by the Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 820 processor coupled with 4GB of RAM and 32GB of inbuilt storage that can be expanded using a microSD card.

On the camera front, the LG G5 has a 16-megapixel rear camera. On the front side, there’s an 8-megapixel camera for selfies. The LG G5 includes a 2800mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0. The bespoke chip sips just 0.8% of battery per hour.

The first add-on is an LG Cam Plus. The Cam Plus can be attached to the G5 through the battery slot, and offer “comfortable grip and convenient control of a DSLR.” The South Korean tech giant company says that the LG Cam Plus will enhance the camera experience by offering autofocus, exposure lock, and give them a physical button for power, shutter and other photography features.

The module also adds a 1200mAh battery to the phone. There’s a Hi-Fi Plus with Bang & Olufsen Play module, on the other hand, enhances the audio experience on the LG G5. It supports 32-bit and 384KHz high-definition audio playback.

The G5 runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow. The smartphone will come in four color options – Silver, Gold, Pink and Titan. It measures 149.40 x 73.90 x 7.70 (height x width x thickness) and weighs 159.00 grams.

On the connectivity front, the LG G5 comes with a 4G LTE, which is compatible with USB 3.0 standard, NFC, Bluetooth 4.2, USB Type-C 2.0 port, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac.
