Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 – a phablet with Fingerprint Scanner, Big Battery and Metal Body


Chinese smartphone maker, Xiaomi, on Tuesday announced the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 smartphone at an event at China National Convention Center in Beijing, which is the successor to its Redmi Note 2, which was unveiled just three months ago.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 comes in at 8.65mm thick and, at 164g, is 4g heavier than the previous Redmi Note 2 and features a 5.5-inch full-HD (1080×1920 pixels) Sunlight Display. It runs MIUI 7 based on Android Operating System.

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 comes with a full metallic body. The handset also sports a fingerprint sensor at the back which the company claims can unlock the phone in just 0.3 seconds. Another notable feature is the 4000mAh battery with fast charging support that can charge up to 50 percent in 1 hour.

Under the hood, the Redmi Note 3 is powered by a 64-bit octa-core MediaTek Helio X10 processor (Cortex-A53), which we have seen before on flagship phones like the HTC One M9+. The processor is coupled with 2GB/ 3GB of RAM.

The Redmi Note 3 will come in 16GB and 32GB storage variants. On camera front, the Redmi Note 3 sports a 13-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel front camera. The phone has a phase detection autofocus system, according to the company which can allow the phone to lock focus on a subject in just 0.1 seconds.

In China, Redmi Note 3 will be available in two variants: one with 2GB RAM and 16GB inbuilt storage variant priced at CNY 899 (approximately Rs. 9,500) and another with 3GB of RAM and 32GB storage at CNY 1,099 (approximately Rs. 11,500). The dual-SIM 4G phone hasn’t been announced for the Indian market. The phone will be available in silver, dark grey and gold colours.
